We started off working the shorelines and cover with our heavy tackle setups, enticing those big bass to strike our lures. The action was steady, and it wasn't long before we started boating some nice fish. Jakob and the crew were all smiles as they reeled in one Largemouth after another. We also had some fun on our light tackle rigs, targeting the shallows and seeing the fish explode on our topwater presentations. 

By midday, we had a nice batch of Largemouth Bass to show for our efforts. Even though the bite slowed a bit in the afternoon heat, we kept working the water and found a few more quality fish to round out the day. It was just an all-around great time on the water, enjoying the company, the weather, and the thrill of the hunt.

What a great day we had out on the water at Buchanan Dam, Texas! As a guide with Reel Texas Fishing Tours, I'm always excited to take folks out for an evening trip, especially in May when the fish are really active. The weather was just about perfect—partly cloudy throughout the day, with comfortable temperatures that made for a pleasant time on the water.

We started off targeting Wiper (Hybrid striped bass) and White crappie, using a mix of heavy and light tackle. The fish were really responding to the conditions, and it didn't take long before we started hooking up. These species put up a great fight, stripping line and making those drag-screaming runs that get the adrenaline pumping. It was nonstop action, with Joseph skillfully playing each fish to the boat. We landed some real nice specimens, and it was clear he was having a blast reeling them in.

It was a beautiful morning as we set out on the water for our 6 Hour Trip with Reel Texas Fishing Tours. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. Our group of two, Jewell and myself, were eager to see what the Buchanan Dam area had in store for us.

As we started working the banks and structure, the fish started firing up right away. We were getting hits on both our heavy tackle and light tackle setups, with Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Florida Bass, and even some Spotted Bass all getting in on the action.
